Outing Postponed

Hey everyone!

Loads of people can't make it on the 9th/10th Dec, reason being that various OCIP trips and such are held then. So, we've postponed the outing to the following weekend on 16th/17th Dec instead.

Taxi Commercial

Narrator: Do you often sleep like a dead-man till 7.30, oblivious to everything about you?

MC: [Snoring away on stage, shifts occasionally]

Younger sibling: [sniggers maliciously brandishing a shaver] [walks up to the front of the
stage and proclaims, holding up the shaver] Shaving time! [walks back over to the MC and
pulls him/her by the collar of his/her shirt, then slaps twice - once on each side - before
letting the MC drop back to resting position] [props up the MC's leg and starts shaving,
then giggles and runs off]

[An alarm goes off]

Main character: [The character gets up and grabs a toothbrush, brushes for a while, his movements slowly decreasing in speed, then drops back to sleep]

[A second alarm goes off]

Main character: [Picks up the alarm drowsily and exclaims in shock] 7.30?! Oh *beep*, I'm
late for school! [Gets up in a hurry, is entangled in his sleeping bag and falls as a result. Stumbles offstage, kicks off the sleeping bag.]

Narrator: Do you absolutely hate waking up in the morning? Do you forgo showering, washing
your face, or even brushing your teeth–

Main character: [Continues brushing, looks at watch, throws away toothbrush]

Narrator: –because you only have 10 mins left to reach school? Do you feel so rushed that
you can't tell your shirt from your pants?

Main Character: [MC stumbles back on, struggling with his pants on head, shirt on legs, hopping about ridiculously] Argh! [trips again]

Narrator: Do your parents punish you based on a false impression of theirs?

[Main character is seen gulping breakfast on stage, chokes on it]

Mum: [Walk on stage wearing big smiles, annoyingly perky tone] Better hurry up dear, you don't want to be late for school! [strange inappriopraite laughter] And as a punishment for staying up late, I'm cutting your allowance by half! [more inappropriate laughter]

[Both parents walk off some distance and get into this invisible car]

Dad: Sorry we can't give you a lift to school, but we still love you! [makes car noises and drives offstage]

Narrator: Did you try sleeping earlier to try and wake up on time?

Main character: [sets alarm clock, stretches lies down]

[Someone with placard saying "SLEEPING TIME: 3AM" walks onstage, sticks a 2AM over the 3AM]

Narrator: Tried drinking stimulants through the night to stop yourself from sleeping at all?

Main character: [MC springs up guzzles large amounts of coke from a pep bottle, but still felt groggy and falls to floor asleep anyway; stays onstage]

Narrator: Has desperation driven you to the point where you inflict pain on yourself to stay awake?

Main character: [MC gets up and starts slapping himself repetitively while walking offstage]

Narrator: Or you bought yourself a ridiculously large alarm clock in hope that it will definitely wake you up?

Main character: [Walks on stage wearing a proud look, and holding a large alarm clock] [Sits down on sleeping bag and winds up alarm clock then lies down]

[Backstage helper drags MC offstage on the sleeping bag, MC holds on to the alarm clock]
Narrator: Do you do all that and more, but still fail to reach school on time because you genetically programmed to sleep till 7.30?

Main character: [MC runs across stage yelling] Why am I always late!

Narrator: And there's more. Even after suffering a lecture for tardiness, your luck fails to improve for the remainder of the day?

Narrator: Like how your classmates always know you skipped your morning shower?

[A classroom scene; MC raises hand to answer a question and classmate beside faint, followed by the rest of the class]

Teacher: [Angrily] Put down your ha-- [Faints as well]

[Everyone moves offstage and person walks across the stage holding a "During Recess"]

Narrator: Do you find that not even your best friend listens to you? [MC open mouth to talk, best friend chokes and runs offstage clumsily, tripping over his/her own legs]

Narrator: You can't even buy your lunch without embarrassment.

Main character: [Goes to smelly tofu store, the seller faints] Oh come on! [MC storms offstage]

Yeah, the post is kinda short (you've struck a comment thought on that point), but it's 3am and waiting for the upload to finish while sipping milk isn't exactly the most exciting experience ever. That, and milk makes me stone for some reason. I think it has something to do with subconscious memories of milk from a bottle and naps right after.

Digressing!

Great outing, have one again soon after the world cup! Or maybe, on the day of the world cup finals itself. Provided it's not right smack in the middle of our exams.

It's been a while since anyone updated the blog, but considering that we haven't had the time for class reunions and outings since we've split, it's a bit difficult to update anyway.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that you can fill anything in here! Stories, rants and the like, especially for the people who aren't in CJC anymore, it would be great to hear about how life's like in your new JCs! Beats mass smsing everyone if you ask me. An Unfamiliar Environment

Today, 1T19 was formally reunited as a class, although we were clearing missing a few lovely people. Admist the rowdy atmosphere despite the lack of Yong Xian, I feel that the initial class atmosphere has vanished somehow with the inclusion of some unfamiliar faces. However, it was nice to see Candice back.:> I must say that I was well aware of the absence of several interesting people, such as Charlie or Ezekial. As I mingled with some of our classmates, I heard a passing remark by one of us, saying that she just didn't have a closeness feeling to the new classmates. must agree with that. Deep in our hearts, I believe that a place has been taken by our ex-classmates and they were never be replaced by new classmates.

As we think of these ideas, I wonder whether 1T19 will ever be the same again?

We need an online class calendar, seriously. It would make it a lot easier for us to record assignment deadlines and test dates. However, until we find one, I'll just have to continue posting here and irritating everyone with relatively short, formal lists. Without further delay, here's the homework we have gathered so far!

Chemistry - AMS tutorial (tmr; for discussion)
Math - Math tutorial (tmr; for discussion)
Econs - London olympics assignment (next friday, to be done in groups); Supply and demand tutorial (optional); Comment on one of the articles in the Econs Blog (tonight; second comment on classmate's by thursday)

The GP presentation and the "London Olympics" assignment are both due next friday, so as your welfare head, I'm sincerely advising all T19-ers to please allocate your time wisely. Admittedly, I'm a last minute worker and personally, I think I work better under the pressure exerted by time constaints, but even so...

Tuesday was a rather prolific day for 1T19, in terms of creative bursts and doodles. Honestly, I have never seen collected so many masterpieces ever till yesterday! The quality is commendable, great job everyone who selflessly chose to take time off their busy lecture-crammed schedule to bring us -- the unfortunate cynics -- these works of art.

Unfortunately, I procrastinated (actually, I just haven't found the time) so I haven't) so the scans aren't ready yet. Most likely, they won't be up till this Friday after I get back from ODAC, simply because there's a bio test to study for tomorrow evening and I'm responsibly doing homework now. However, for those of you who are desperately in need of entertainment, here are the videos we took of the macho guys who daringly gulped sushi drenched in wasabe (hot stuff!). Considering that it's past midnight at the moment, by the time any of you read this, you would have collected your results already, so let's forgo the redundant well wishing. It's the thought that counts, and I am thinking!

Seriously though, I really hope that everyone got the results that they desired!

No matter what your L1R5, keep in mind the fact that you still have a long road ahead, and with all journeys, there are often plenty of opportunities for improvement or to prove your ability. Admittedly, the O' levels are a major milestone in our lives being the second standard national exam that we have taken, but whatever the marks, don't take them so seriously to the extent that it becomes a discouragement/ego-inflator. One of fundamental characteristics which constitute the core of human nature is changeability; hence it would be foolish to assume that anything to do with people would remain thus for all time. Keep an open mind!

Also, please remember what Brother Paul shared with us today. Comparison of results has always been a sensitive issue, so please be considerate when you're spamming up the tagboard later, and during the subsequent weeks. Do not -- at any point in time -- assume that everyone else is on cloud 9 like you; for everything happy, there will always be something sad to contrast it (philosophy!). I assume he's not telling us to treat our results like a taboo topic; just encouraging us to respect our peers and be aware (now more than ever) of body language or tone.

Worse comes to worst, just cry/scream into your pillow, whatever it takes to make you feel better so long it isn't self-destructive.

Hey i just found out that the O lvl results will be released on friday and there will be a 6 day holiday!!!! IN CASE U DONT KNOW.

So we'll only have to go back to school on thursday. Which is trule awesome. COS guess what? The econs test on the first set of notes falls next monday!!!

I know I should be writing a GP essay(s) right now, but given my tendency to procrastinate and the fact that my brother's throwing a tantrum non-stop, I'll just blame it on the fact that my environment just isn't condusive enough. Random note: It sounds like Keane finally stopped yelling. No wait, he's just playing with the curtains and feigning depression -- he watches too much tv. Anyway, the pool outing was cancelled today, so those of you who are bogged down with CIP, CCAs, or the classic family appointments; fret not good people of 1T19 (numbers are so inappropriate in a shakespearean soliloquy -- feh), thy wretched duties has not robbed thee of thy deserved jolly reward. In basic english, don't worry you didn't miss out on a lot of fun. Unless you count lazing around in front of the computer waiting for another talk-nonsense-over-msn session to erupt and/or uploading pictures from yesterday's outing.

Now, I have some bad news and some good news. Good news is, I finally found the friggin' installation CD that my uncle borrowed, lost and hence couldn't return when after this computer was back from the repair shop; so now I can upload picture onto the working computer at home! Bad news is, I don't have photoshop on this computer so I can't edit any of the pictures that we took in the dark. Darn camera, needs a brighter flash. Either that, or I just need to carry along my dad's professional camera for night outings next time for better photos. Meaning to say, I can't upload any of the pictures since I can't edit them and unless Shufen miraculously stumbles across a laptop with a wireless internet connection while she's having her buffet, I doubt the pictures will be up till monday, when I'll get a chance to pass the CD-R to her.

While I wait for Shufen to overcome her technical difficulties, here's doodle that we started during the bio lecture and finished somewhere during chem. Yup. Someone help me change my internet explorer settings back to english, having to decipher all the old mandarin characters is driving me up the walls!

tonight was absolutely memorable!!!! im not talking about other things (dont think wai wai)

but honestly it was soo fun!!

well for those who didnt make it... we went to watch Fun with Dick and Jane and it was sooo funny!!! den we went to the park outside istana...it was getting dark den and we had fun taking fotographs and stuff!!!

And guess what we actually did??!! we took off our shoes and actually stepped into the water thts for like decoration..like for the fountain thingy and those. and took funny fotos with them!!!

i mean we did all the wacky stuff

and well some other group across the big statue was yelling like for fun and the jeff, how, and yx were like playing alot of fool talking about how small their balls are thts impossible to play water polo with em like how the girls requested. (ouch)

The pictures wont be up yet cos celeste has got to do alot of things with it..like uploading em.

But i bet theyll be cool when their out

First of all, happy chinese new year 1T19, and we're one of the few classes who managed to celebrate this festival together in class, so woohoo for us! Even though traditionally (and it should be officially; whee normative statement!) the chinese new year festivities last a good thirty days -- kudos to Yong Xian for sharing that today (along with a whole load of crap) -- it looks as though everything's gone back to normal (as normal as things can be with us around). And as per nomal (sheesh, I'm sick of that word), we've got homework, so here is what's due tomorrow.

1. Math lecture notes: Activity 1 & 2
2. Chemistry: Potassium permanganate and dichromate questions
3. Study for the chinese test

Speaking of the chinese test, T32 took it today and according to Yiliang, the questions were comprehension passages (li jie wen da) and there's no fill-in-the-blanks (tian xie han zi). Naturally, please consider the fact that they taught by another teacher and that this bit of information isn't entirely reliable. Ultimately, you're the one responsible for your grades if you don't study.

Our class has one of the highest concentration of ODACers in J1, it's nuts but it sounds so good. Thank you Shufen for joining us today despite knowing that we're running to MacRitchie!
